The delicate fragrant flowers of Neofinetia falcata, variety ‘Unkai’ provide a fascinating glimpse into the refined and strangely beautiful mating habits of the orchid world.

Sigh…if only I’d taken better photos.
Next time it blooms I’ll be sure to do it right.

Neofinetia falcata has a nocturnal moth with a very long proboscis which does the job. Note the long nectary on those Neofinetia flowers.
