Neofinetia falcata variety ‘Shoujou’ is a nice standard pink-flowered type of Japanese Wind Orchid. It has good fragrance and is a strong grower. Getting good photographs of its flowers has proven to be quite challenging for me. I hope they are adequate. This plant came from New World Orchids.
One of the unusual things I notice about this species is its uncanny ability to sense its location. Indoors under lights this plant does have fragrance, but sometimes it is just not very strong, like this afternoon for example. The very moment I took it outside to photograph it, however, the scent went nuts. These plants seem to be able to sense the buoyancy of the atmosphere — the fresh free-flowing air — or something, because the instantaneous outpouring of intense fragrance is quite an amazing transformation. I almost hated to take it back indoors again.

Thanks montucky…this is a very beautiful little orchid, excellent fragrance and color, and a vigorous grower too. I think the last photo turned out the best. I am still in the learning phase of how to make decent photographs.
