Tabbie’s Garden

Saturday Neo Trio

July 12, 2008 · 6 Comments

Here are three nice little Neofinetia falcata plants which I currently have in bloom. I snapped these photos just this afternoon.

‘Shoujou’

‘Kyokko’

‘Ootakamaru’

The ‘Shoujou’ is the same plant shown in the post Neofinetia falcata ‘Shoujou’, but there are more flowers open now. All three plants came from
New World Orchids, and all three are deliciously fragrant.

Wow, you sure raise some beautiful orchids!

Very nice. Do you grow them in semi Hydroponics?

  • Tabbie // July 14, 2008 at 3:00 pm

Thanks Laura. Not really semi hydroponics, no. I grow them in a combination of Hydroton lightweight expand clay aggregate and New Zealand sphagnum moss, but there is no reservoir of water or nutrient solution at the bottom. The pots are free draining. They seem to be very happy with this setup, even though it is not the traditional method of cultivation.

    Tabbie,
Fabulous orchids! Just got more plants from New World Orchids myself… absolutely fabulous - both Dr. Lehr and the plants. This is a great blog, and I will definitely be checking back to see what else you have blooming!

Thanks for visiting, shakkai! I think your Kinkosei and the pot you chose for it are wonderful! I use decorative pots at times, but often just for show. For everyday culture I hate to risk breaking them as they are so very expensive.
