Lovely rose, such a soft pink. Creepy spider (I hate ‘em even though I know they’re “good”).

Great picture of a Daddy Long Legs! There are lots around my yard. Pretty friendly, for a bug. (Unlike those scary Wolf spiders.)

I’m not a fan of spiders, either, Candace. This one, however, as Tom pointed out, is pretty friendly, for a bug. This particular Arachnid is an Opilionid and not a spider. Most likely it was chewing on the flower itself, although it may have found a dead bug inside the rose upon which to feast.

Not much left to say but to agree with everyone. I like spiders, though…I like most insects except fire ants, to which I am seriously allergic. Oh, hate mosquitos, too…not sure what their reason to exist might be.

I love the rose among all of the buds! It’s passenger is pretty cool too.

Unfortunately aphids were really getting a good taste of this poor rosebush. It’s amazing and dismaying how quickly they can appear and how fast they multiply.

Yep… and dusting with diotomaceous earth works well too! Oh and I cannot forget natural predators. There’s nothing I love more than releasing a pack of true ladybugs into the garden and placing a big ready-to-hatch praying mantis eggpod in a strategic location. There are so many options and alternatives to toxic chemicals. I can’t say I never use poisons, but certainly they are a last resort to be used judiciously and even then on only the toughest of destructive insects.
