…but if I were a Windsor, it might serve as a nice little Spring Cottage for me.
A man’s home may seem to be his castle on the outside; inside, it is more often his nursery ~ Clare Boothe Luce __________________________________
Some of my neighbors have the most amazing houses. Some are massive. Some are quaint. Some are inviting. All of them are unique, and I’ve decided to showcase them here. This is the fifth house in this series. (House 1, House 2, House 3, House 4) – Stay tuned for more – __________________________________
I photographed this house and its grounds by starting in the back and working my way around it counterclockwise. Large sizes are only a click away.
Nor need we power or splendour, wide hall or lordly dome; the good, the true, the tender, these form the wealth of home. ~ Sarah J. Hale
…but I sure could fit a lot of orchids inside of it! I love what they’ve done with the masonry around the door…talk about an entrance! So yeah, I really like this house a lot!
Some of my neighbors have the most interesting houses. Some are big. Some are bold. Some are beautiful. Some are quite unique. All of them are special, and I’ve decided to showcase them here. This is the fourth house in this series. (House 1, House 2, House 3) – Stay tuned for more –
A man builds a fine house; and now he has a master, and a task for life: he is to furnish, watch, show it, and keep it in repair, the rest of his days. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
…nor am I expecting Hänsel and Gretel to stop by for dinner.

Grace thou thy House, and let not that grace thee. ~ Benjamin Franklin
Some of my neighbors have the most interesting houses, and at times I find I must work at not being envious of what they have. I’ve decided to showcase a few of these homes “just because” …and here is the first one. Stay tuned for more.
Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man. ~ Sam Walter Foss
Out of damp and gloomy days, out of solitude, out of loveless words directed at us, conclusions grow up in us like fungus: one morning they are there, we know not how, and they gaze upon us, morose and gray. Woe to the thinker who is not the gardener but only the soil of the plants that grow in him. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
Here are Winkin’ Blinkin’ and Nod revisited. I know you’ve seen them before, but they are a constant part of my life as they loom overhead, seemingly eternal.
We stand today poised on a pinnacle of wealth and power, yet we live in a land of vanishing beauty, of increasing ugliness, of shrinking open space and of an overall environment that is diminished daily by pollution and noise and blight. This, in brief, is the quiet conservation crisis. ~ Stewart L. Udall
By now most of you probably realize I live by a river. There is a large wooded park here as well, and there is beauty all around. We even have wildlife in the heart of the city (The Bird and I). I and many of my neighbors work very hard to keep our little piece of the world green. Just up the road and on the other side of the river is a blight we all live with, a necessary evil of sorts, the power plant. I showed you Winkin’ Blinkin’ and Nod not long ago. The video at the end of this post reveals more of the price we pay for living in a modern industrialized age, but first I have posted photos from this morning which show more of the beauty which surrounds me, both gardened and au naturel.
