Carving: The Last of the Pumpkins 2008

November 2, 2008 · 4 Comments

Halloween has come and gone, but there are three more pumpkins to show you…the last three, and we carved them that very afternoon prior to the big night. Enjoy the photos, and if you are interested, this page contains several video clips which will give you a taste of our annual Halloween celebration.

Carving: Day 3

October 30, 2008 · 8 Comments

Day three has come and gone. Not only are the pumpkins being carved en masse, but other props and decorations are popping up all over the yard as well. Here is some of what was accomplished today. I carved the three witches and also the vampire shown in the last photograph.

Carving: Day 2

Deep into the darkness peering,
long I stood there, wondering, fearing…
~ Edgar Allan Poe

Here are the results at the end of the second day of carving.
Again I must confess I did none of the work.
In years past I carved many a pumpkin,
but this year I’m simply not into doing it.
I still might carve a pumpkin…possibly tomorrow evening…under duress ;)
Stay tuned…

Carving: Day 1

October 27, 2008 · 3 Comments

Today was spent mostly on the gutting of pumpkins. About fifteen were prepared for carving, but only three actually got carved. I did none of the work so I must give credit where credit is due. It was Steven who did all the work.

Here are two of the three pumpkins he carved today. The other one is on the other side of the city tonight, out of the reach of my camera.

Pumpkins Past

Only the knife knows what goes on in the heart of a pumpkin.

Halloween is creeping up on us.
Soon family and friends will be busy
carving the guts out of a multitude of pumpkins.
We like to use the Pumpkin Masters patterns because the results
are so very dramatic — especially the faces. Here are a few of the pumpkins we’ve carved in the past couple of years. The photographs are very amateur
and inconsistent in size and quality, but I think you’ll enjoy them nonetheless.
They were taken in the dark while the pumpkins were lit from within.
